How much does it cost?
Fees are determined by income so that mediation is affordable to everyone who could benefit from it. They are as follows:
Gross annual income | Fee per hour per person |
Under £20,000 | £54 |
£20,000 to £24,999 | £72 |
£25,000 to £34,999 | £88 |
£35,000 to £49,999 | £106 |
£50,000 to £89,999 | £125 |
£90,000 to £149,999 | £158 |
£150,000 or over | £192 |
Charges for Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings (MIAMs) are:
£98 for an individual session
|
£155 for a joint session
|
- As I do not have a public funding franchise, I cannot offer legal aid to a client who is entitled to it. However, I can obtain a £500 voucher from The Family Mediation Council in cases involving children or financial cases which also include child issues. Only the fees for the joint mediation meetings are covered by the voucher i.e., not the fees for the initial individual meetings, the MIAMs.
- Joint sessions last one and a half hours on average.
- The fees are payable at the end of each session.
- If an appointment is cancelled less than 48 hours in advance there will be a charge of half the hourly fee.
- In cases involving finances, if you need a Memorandum of Understanding and a Statement of Financial Information, it will cost each of you the hourly fee times four. If mediation involves child only issues and you both wish me to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding the cost will be the hourly fee times two for each of you. Alternatively, I could prepare a Statement of Outcome, a much briefer document, which summarises the parents' joint proposals, for which the charge to each of you would be an hour's fee.
